I just want to try it out. Do I have to commit to anything?
No, all you need to do is click 'Start now' and enter your name and some other details. You will receive an e-mail asking you to confirm the creation of your website. You will then immediately be able to start designing and adding content. You don't need to commit to anything.

Is there a lock-in period?
No, there is no lock-in period, either for Basic (the free version) or for the upgraded versions. You can cancel at any time and you do not need to pay anything.

I am a private individual. Is Fastwebs suitable for me?
Yes, Fastwebs is suitable for businesses, whether large or small, and also for private individuals. It is user-friendly and intuitive, and it is just as well suited for putting up family photos and information as it is for business websites. As a private individual, you will probably not have a large amount of traffic, so Fastwebs will be free of charge for you.

I haven't got a clue about creating websites. Can you help me?
Fastwebs is very user-friendly, but if you still need help we have many partners who will be able to help you with everything from setting up the website and adding your logo, photos, etc. to creating a completely unique design for you. See information about our partners here.

What are the limitations of Basic (the free version)?
Fastwebs Basic is a full-value content management system with a design tool, and online-store functionality if you need it. It includes just about everything you need to design and maintain your website. There is no limitation to the number of pages or products you can publish.

Why do I have to pay extra if my site gets more traffic?
Lots of traffic = Popular website = More income for you. With only a small amount of traffic (up to 300 visitors per month), most private customers or newly established companies will pay nothing. Once traffic increases, you only pay for the actual traffic you have achieved during the previous month. If you have high traffic one month, for example during a campaign, you will pay more, and then if the traffic decreases you will pay less - just like a telephone bill. The cost of operating a web server is largely dependent on the bandwidth allocated to the server. If there is a lot of traffic, this requires more bandwidth. Fastwebs price model is based on the principle of paying more if you have a more popular website. We feel this is the fairest price model, but even if you have a lot of traffic this arrangement will still be very inexpensive for you (see the price overview).

What happens if I do not pay?
We invoice you for your previous month's traffic, but PAYMENT IS NEVER COMPULSORY! If you do not pay the traffic fee, we will impose a speed limitation on your website. Your visitors will then find that the pages load more slowly. To remove the speed limitation you must pay the traffic fee. If you do not pay the traffic fee for two months, we will consider this as cancellation and the website will be deleted.

I have my own domain. Will I lose control of my domain? No, we will not get involved with your domain. We will provide you with the IP address of your Fastwebs website. You then provide this address to your domain administrator, which will then point your domain at the website.

I don't have my own domain. Can you register a domain for me?
Yes, you can have a domain registered through our partners, who are all approved registrars.

Can I use my own logo? Of course. The logo must be in JPEG (.jpg) or GIF format, and we recommend using a transparent background (a transparancy tool is also provided), as this will provide you with greater flexibility when designing your site. You can also add as many images and as much text as you wish.

Do I need to know all about image editing?
No, in principle you can take images straight from your digital camera and upload them to the server. The system automatically creates extra versions of the image that are optimised for the web. However, we recommend that you downscale (reduce the size of) your image before you upload it, because then the upload will take less time, and the image will take up less disk space on the server and you will not fill up your allotted 2 GB space on the server so quickly.

I have a lot of images - is this a problem?
No, there is no limit to the number of images you can upload. If you compress the images into a zip file first, then you can upload the zip file and the system will automatically unzip and resize the images.

Is the design tool just a selection of templates?
No, the design tool is a very user-friendly system that offers a range of layouts, backgrounds, page headings, colours, etc. These can be combined in many different ways, and using these together with your logo and images will enable you to create exactly the online presence you want.

I have my own design. Can I use it?
Yes, Fastwebs' web publishing system is design-independent and you can use your own design. This requires that you have expertise in HTML and CSS and Fastwebs Plus is required.

Do I have to have a separate webhotel and do I have to install anything on the server?
No, a webhotel of 2Gb is included and unlike Ez systems, Joomla and Wordpress you do not need to install anything. Everything is taken care of by an automated process

Do you provide an uptime guarantee?
No, we do not provide an uptime guarantee, but in practice our customers experience an uptime of almost 100 per cent. It is of course very important for us to have stable servers, and so we do our utmost to keep the uptime as high as possible.

Is there any limitation to the number of pages or products I can add?
No.

Is there any limitation to the number of levels I can have in my menu?
No, and you can also have multiple sets of menus, with top menus, side menus, etc. You can set all this up in the design tool.

I have rather specific needs which are not covered by Fastwebs. What should I do? Please e-mail your requirements to sales@fastwebs.eu, and we will endeavour to help. Alternatively, you can contact our owners, Bysant AS, who can provide tailor-made solutions.

Can I create contact forms and other forms?
Yes, the CMS includes its own form generator, which enables you to create various forms that can be filled in by users and then sent to you by e-mail.

Can my online store accept credit card payments?
Yes, we have a partnership with Nets in Norway, which provides the Netaxept payment solution. You will have to enter into an agreement with them, and also with a payment processor. When using Fastwebs' online-store functionality you avoid paying the Nets setup fee (currently NOK 3,000). In order to have the option of accepting credit card payments you must upgrade to Fastwebs Professional.

How are payments made?
If you exceed the traffic limit, or you have purchased one of the upgraded versions of Fastwebs, Plus or Professional, there will be a fee to pay. Payment is made by credit card via a secure server (using SSL encryption) located at Nets. You will receive notification a minimum of five days before the payment is made, and you can cancel at any time, thereby avoiding the charge.
